    Kissing a whale
Every year, gray whales migrate along the west cost of North America down to Baja Califonia to breed and give birth. This great attraction brings whale lovers from all around the world to Mexico. Gray whales are among the friendliest and most curious whales in the world - they come very close to the boats, laying heads on it and letting people to touch, scratch and hug them. Usually we don't touch animals, but here it's believed that the whales are enjoying such way of communication. Whales can stay with the boat for quite a long time. For every whale lover it's the trip not to be missed! We can also meet humpbacks, orcas, minke whales and possibly some other species. It's not a whale snorkeling trip, but you are welcome to bring your underwater camera for shooting from the boat.

If it's not enough, let's just say that getting to the whales is driving through the desert on 4x4 Jeep Wrangler, so it's a "road-trip", and if you always wanted to test this legendary car, you are welcome to drive it! We will cover a road throuth the Mexican desert, getting from one whale spot to another and visiting ancient towns and other attractions of California peninsula. Hot and sunny desert, offroad driving, whale hugging, seal and whale shark snorkeling - this is a true adventure not to be missed!
Itinerary
Day 1
Our journey begins at La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur, a hospitable town renowned for its fantastic sunsets. On the arrival day, we will walk around the town, relax at the hotel after long road and make some extra activities.
Day 2
We will sail along the eastern side of the Espiritu Santo island to reach Los Islotes, two large rock islets, one of which is a natural arch. Diving through the centre of this natural rock formation brimming with life, one can expect to see dense shoals of silver sardines, blue and gold King Angel Fish and yellow surgeon fish, amongst golden cup corals. These islets are home to a colony of over 200 Californian Brown Sea lions. These inquisitive creatures take great interest in those visiting their home. One can often turn to find the pups pulling at your fins, eager to play, showing off and turning circles around our comparatively clumsy underwater movements. The larger bulls become pugnacious and territorial during the mating season in protection of their harem. On the way back, we will stop at the wonderful Ensenada Grande, for lunch on the beach and some relaxing. On the afternoon we will head to the other spot in the ocean to snorkel with enormous and elusive whale sharks. Hotel overnight.
Day 3. On the road.
Early in the morning we will head out in cars (Chevrolet Suburban or Jeep Wrangler) towards new adventures! We will drive a long and picturesque road through the desert to the French colonial town of Santa Rosalia. On the way, we will visit Bahia Conception Bay with its multiple coves, drive through the green oasis of Mughele. In the evening we will enjoy the colonial atmosphere of Santa Rosalia.
Day 4. Heading to Guerrero Negro
Shortly after the start of our route, we will find ourselves in the Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve, the largest reserve in Mexico. We will drive through the beautiful Sierra de San Francisco mountain range. In addition to the magnificent variety of plants, numerous rock paintings left by ancient tribes await us here.
After visiting one of the caves, we will have lunch at a local restaurant and continue our route through the Vizcaino Desert to get to Guerrero Negro.
We will also visit the Pronghorn Conservation and Reproduction Center, an endemic American antelope. In the evening we will arrive in Guerrero Negro, our first spot for watching the giants of the sea - gray whales.

Day 5. Guerrero Negro. At sea.
This is where our first big whale-watching trip will take start. Every year, gray whales migrate from Russian Chukotka to Mexico in order to breed and reproduce in the warm shallow lagoons of the California Peninsula. We do not chase the whales - they will come to our boats to get to know each other!
In the afternoon, we will visit the world's largest salt marsh and see the salt mining process. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 6. Way to San Ignacio.
Today, on the way to the San Ignacio whale camp, we will visit a missionary church and see rock paintings. We head to the San Ignacio lagoon to the whale camp, where whale experts from all over the world gather to study these animals. The camp consists of large stationary tents with 2 beds. This is the only possible placement given that there are no hotels in this area.
Day 7. San Ignacio. At sea.
Full day whale camping program. Whale watching. Let's try to get the maximum result! Of course, a lot depends on the weather and the mood of the animals, but our team is always lucky! San Ignacio Lagoon is the most famous spot for watching the giants of the sea in the Gulf of California. Here the whales feel calm and come very close to the boats. This day will be unforgettable for all members of the expedition! Overnight at the camping.
Day 8. Way to Bahia Magdalena.
Our route will take you along the legendary Baja 1000 offroad track.
We will travel through the desert and endless expanses of salt marshes, through isolated fishing villages, we will reach the beautiful village of Baja San Juanico. Next, we will move towards Bahia Magdalena, our third observation point for the giants of the sea.
Day 9. Bahia Magdalena. At sea. Drive to La Paz.
In the morning we will take a boat ride, once again we will try to find whales and touch their beautiful and mysterious life. Dolphins, sea lions and many birds also live in the local waters. We will disembark on Magdalena Island with its magnificent white dunes. After the boat trip we get into the cars and drive to La Paz.
