In mid-July we're setting out for a six-day scientific expedition with FEROP research project (Far East Russia Orca Project) to get to know orcas better and contribute to the research and you can join the team as well! It's a wonderful opportunity to observe orcas in their natural habitat for those who love both animals and science. It's not just orcas, though. You'll also see gray and humpback whales, fin whales and sperm whales as the south-eastern coast of Kamchatka is a place where whale sightings are really frequent. Those who're crazy about volcanos will see what volcanology has in store for them and if you're in to feel the ultimate unity with nature you'll enjoy your time at the Kronotsky natural reserve.
Activities: sea kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, trekking, sailing, photography, unity with nature, observing wild animals in their natural habitat, exploring distant areas, meeting interesting people, fishing.

Our accommodation for the trip is an ocean sailing catamaran equipped with engines so that it would be possible to follow the route even in calm weather. With favorable winds the ship goes sailing, though.
There is additional equipment on board such as two motor boats, a compressor, 6 weight tanks, SUP sets. When not busy exploring the area you'll spend time in one of the three double or two triple cabins. There are two restrooms with showers on board and the third shower is located on the stern of the vessel, where you can rinse off salty ocean water after swimming or diving. Having returned after a busy adventure route, you will find yourself in the warm and cozy houseboat with a hot shower and a delicious dinner. The crew will gladly show you how to handle basic sailing gear till you get the hang of it and when the sea is calm you'll get a chance to try kayaking ocean-style.
Isn't this what can count for a real adventure? It's time to become a true explorer and ‒ for some of the areas we'll pass – a pioneer!

Day 1
Arrival at the airport. Check in to the hotel. Visiting a fish market and some sightseeing. Tour briefing.
If you want, you can visit thermal springs (additional charge needed).

Day 2
Transfer to the seaport. Boarding the ship, getting acquainted with the crew and the scientists, briefing, going to the ocean. Getting started - discussion of methods, objectives and plans.

Day 3-5
Transitions from the bay to the bay along the South-Eastern coast of Kamchatka. The main areas of visit - Bays Bechevinskaya, Morzhovaya, Zheleznaya, Russkaya, Listvenichnaya.
Please note: the itinerary might be changed according to the weather and information about whales and orcas location.

Day 6
Return to the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, check in to the guesthouse, dinner.

Day 7
Extra day in case of bad weather conditions.
If the weather is good and the program is done, than there are several additional activities to choose from:
 visiting the "Valley of Geysers"; (a six-hours helicopter trip) – lunch, bathing in thermal springs;
 visiting the Kuril lake (a six-hours helicopter trip) - lunch, bathing in thermal springs;
 rafting along the Malkinskaya or Bystraya river, fishing;
 other
Overnight in the town.

Day 8
One-day jeep tour to Mutnovskiy volcano, ascent into the crater. Overnight in the town.

Day 9
Excursion to Avachinskiy Pass or Vachkazhets mountain range, with a stop at the thermal springs.
Overnight in the town.

Day 10
Free time (extra day). Overnight in the town.

Day 11
Transfer to the airport. Departure.

•  the cost of the program does not cover additional expenses as well as the tickets, but we can help you find the best offer available if needed.
• in the case of you changing your mind or not being able to join us the prepayment will not be refunded as our calculations are based on the amount of people signed up and the money is spent mostly on the transportation and accommodation services.

•  the itinerary is designed for favorable weather conditions and might require adjustment due to changes of the latter.
